BECTA Provides Sound MS Office Advice
Avoid widespread deployment of MS Office 2007
BECTA is the UK Government's lead agency for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in education.
It recently completed a study of Microsoft Vista and Office 2007 products. In that report it made specific recommendations that constitute sound advice for any organization.
Following the questionable adoption of the Microsoft-only OOXML as an ISO standard, BECTA is reiterating its advice. Specifically,
- No widespread deployment of Office 2007 should take place ...
- users of Office 2007 should NOT save any files in Microsoft's new Office format (OOXML)
