Web Content Management
Allowing non-technical people to maintain the content of their web site themselves.
Web sites are a key communications vehicle for most organizations. However, traditional web sites had to be maintained by people with specialized skills -- the 'webmaster'. Whenever there needed to be a change, there was cost and delay while the webmaster performed their magic.
With a web content management system, once the overall design of the web site is established, the actual content of the site is created and published by staff members. There is a work flow built into the system that ensures that material is approved by authorized individuals before being published to the web site for public viewing.
This allows organizations to respond very quickly to their rapidly changing public communication needs. To see an example of such a system in operation for a small municipality you can look at the Township of Brock web site.
The CSBS can have an optional Web Content Management System installed. We normally provide two content management web sites: one is your public site and the other is an internal site accessible only by your staff. This internal (intranet) site could include such things as staff directories, policy manuals, meeting agendas and minutes -- any information that should be shared among the staff to improve their effectiveness. There is a full site search capability to allow people to find information on the site quickly.
